Welcome to Westminster Woods
Westminster Woods is a Camp and Conference Center located near Meacham, Oregon in the heart of northeast Oregon’s Blue Mountains. It is located about 25 miles east of Pendleton and a similar distance west of La Grande. It is easily accessed from Interstate 84 (exit 234). The camp is adjacent to Emigrant Springs State Park, and state park lands border the camp property on several sides. The camp is owned and operated by the First Presbyterian Church of Pendleton.
The Westminster Woods property covers 231 acres and most of it is heavily forested. A few small natural meadows and several developed lawn areas are also present. The camp has six main structures – a kitchen (dining & small meeting hall), a pumphouse containing the well head and water system equipment, a dormitory or bunkhouse (sleeps 20 in bunkbed accommodations), a chapel (also used as a meeting center for large groups), a maintenance building/shop, and a bathhouse (provides showers, restrooms, etc.). An office is located in the center area of the bathhouse.
Outdoor facilities include 8 full-service RV sites, Despain Field used for play activities and outdoor weddings, Oregon Trail ruts and a gravesite, a trail system, and a sand volleyball court.
Westminster Woods is a place where people of all ages can get away from the distracting routines of life to focus on contemporary issues, nature, and spiritual growth. Our wish is to enrich lives through hospitality, reflection, and renewal. Our hope is that those who come to Westminster Woods will leave feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.
Westminster Woods offers a variety of facilities and amenities, which are described below in more detail. The camp is available for rent to nonprofit groups, as well as for family gatherings, business meetings, and weddings or other special events.
Chapel & Meeting Center
A beautiful 1,600 square foot Chapel and Meeting Center was built in 2008. It is used for weddings, summer worship experiences, and for workshops, meetings, and trainings. The facility was designed to handle more than a hundred people at one time, depending on how it is configured (concert, classroom, or theater layout), and whether the outdoor patio area is used.
The outdoor patio area includes approximately 550 square feet and it can provide seating for up to 40 people, depending on how the seating is arranged. A set of full-height folding doors allows the indoor space to be connected with the outdoor patio area, allowing summer weddings and other warm-weather events to use a larger combined space. The glass wall can be opened up completely and a canopy can be set up over the stone patio to shade guests seated there. A total of 110 attractive, upholstered chairs are available, with 70–80 used inside and 30–40 outside on the patio.
The Chapel and Meeting Center has electric outlets conveniently located throughout (including the floor), so laptops and projectors can be set up wherever they are needed. There is a motorized retractable screen situated at an ideal height so participants in the back row have just as good a view as those in the front row. A whiteboard is located behind beautiful pine sliding panels, so when you don’t need it, it is hidden away!
An electronic piano is provided in this space to facilitate services where music is needed. The beautiful windows and pine throughout the building provide an array of fantastic backgrounds for photography during special events. There is handicapped parking close to the building to help making unloading materials and people easier. A new parking area was installed adjacent to the chapel, and close to the handicapped parking space. The new parking lot provides easy access for chapel guests. This building provides WiFi service.

Dorm
Our dorm building is split into two separate sides – each side has 10 bunk beds with mattresses for a total of 20 single beds. This facility allows boys and girls in separate sides or two groups to have their own space at night. It is located right at the entry to the camp, within site of the Bathhouse and Kitchen and Small Meeting Hall.
Restrooms with cleaning supplies are included on each side. There are two small wall heaters in each side of the dorm to provide comfort in colder weather. Mattresses and bottom sheets are provided. Campers should bring their own bedding and toiletries.

Kitchen & Small Meeting Hall
Groups can meet and dine in this 500 square foot facility. The kitchen has an electric range, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, cooking utensils, dishes, and silverware. There is also a small restroom with a shower. Large, pointed arch windows let in lots of natural light and align this space with a beautiful natural setting.
A large concrete apron adjoins the building. In combination with a large adjacent area containing picnic tables covered by canopies, the concrete apron allows the kitchen facility to function well for outdoor dining.
A deck runs along the entire east side of the kitchen; it contains two large picnic tables with umbrellas, and several padded chairs and rocker swings for lounging. It’s a nice setting for a cup of coffee in the morning, as the sun rises behind the deck in the east.
An outdoor grill and a pellet smoker, stored on the west side under a wide overhang, also provides additional options for food preparation and outdoor dining.
There is a small play area directly adjacent to the kitchen facility; it allows adults working in the kitchen to monitor their children in this play area.

RV Campsites
The RV facilities are located next to the main entrance road for Westminster Woods, which is part of a loop road that serves as the main entrance and exit for the camp. There are 8 spaces for recreational vehicles; each site has full water, sewer, and power hookups, including 20 amp, 30 amp, 120-volt, and 50 amp electrical service. Each space provides a level gravel pad, a picnic table, and close access to the kitchen and bathhouse buildings.
Sites 1, 2, 5, 6, 7 are all standard back-in spots. Sites 3, 4, and 8 are pull-through for larger fifth-wheel or motor homes. Sites 3 and 4 are set up as two sites for back-in use (2 sets of hookups, 2 tables, etc.); if combined as a pull-through site, sites 3/4 function as one site, not two.
The pull-through sites provide a little more room for long RVs to navigate. Since the entrance and exit roads form a loop, there is easy exit access for larger fifth-wheel or motor home units that cannot turn around easily.
*The RV sites are included in all rentals. They cannot be reserved separately.
Bathhouse
The bathhouse provides men’s and women’s restrooms and showers – the men’s are on the left (south) side and the women’s are on the right (north) side. The shower facilities are enclosed and lockable. The two sides are separated by a center area that includes the camp office, first aid station, and a storage area.
The lawn in front of the building provides a gathering place for picnics or for coordinating group activities. Its central location and the flagpole make it a great “Meet you back here” location for campers who are breaking into smaller groups. A large Chess Set is built into a grassed area near the Women’s side of the bathhouse; there is a nice bench there too for chess game spectators.
The bathhouse is a relatively large building (1,600 square feet on bottom floor) – all of the facilities are on the bottom floor, while the top floor is used for storage. Although it is an old structure, it was remodeled in 2023.
*The bathhouse is included in all rentals. The bathhouse cannot be reserved separately.
Amphitheater
The amphitheater is an open-air, outdoor facility. It is available for use by any group who reserves the camp, and there is no charge for its use. A trail from the Kitchen building leads down to the amphitheater. This facility was built from local timber in 2005, and it was designed in a semicircle arrangement around a fire pit.
Overnight groups can enjoy a campfire at the amphitheater; note that campfires are only available when allowed by state of Oregon fire-season rules. The amphitheater firepit is the only location at Westminster Woods where campfires are permitted – there are two hydrants with garden hoses near the firepit, so if embers from a campfire start a wildfire, it is possible to control it. Groups often gather there for talks; a rustic lectern is available there too. The dorm and upper parking are only moments away (up the trail).
*The amphitheater is included in all rentals. The amphitheater cannot be reserved separately.
